What to do with my life?
Right out of high school I began attending Saddleback community college. I went to that school because it was cheap and also because I really didn’t know what I wanted to study yet. I worked my butt off for two years and was accepted to California State University Fullerton. I then had to decide what I would major in once I started at my new school. Still not really having found anything I was passionate about, I arbitrarily chose to study Sociology. I now have done two semesters at Cal State Fullerton studying sociology and I am only 6 classes away from graduating and getting my bachelor’s degree. It is now so late in my education that I have finally realized what I want to do with my life. Since I was about fourteen I have been reading books about midwifery and Ina May Gaskin. Even as a child I was very interested in pregnancy and childbirth, and recently I have really started realizing that helping women through childbirth is really what I should be doing. I really only wish I had realized this two years ago. Now since I am so close to graduating I have to finish my degree in what I started it in. I really want to pursue a career in women’s health care but I’m afraid its going to be really difficult but I really want to try. I think I am going to start by becoming a certified doula. I think it will help me gain experience and be very rewarding and empowering. I hope then to maybe go on to study nursing and become a RN. This just means I have at least another three years of school and paying tuition. But Its something I really want to do!! I really hope this works out.
